Banbury Station Public Art Installation
Celebrating Community Through Design & Film
The Challenge
To deliver a public art installation that showcased 12 diverse community groups in Banbury. The goal: to create a lasting visual presence at Banbury Station through a series of outdoor artworks displayed for a minimum of 12 months—highlighting the vital role each group plays in the local community.

Our Approach
We worked closely with Banbury BID to shape a creative direction that honoured the voice and value of each group. Our process included:
-
Developing a series of proposals tailored to the needs of each community organisation
-
Guiding the Banbury BID team on conducting interviews and capturing images for use in collaborative short documentary films
-
Conducting in-depth research to design bespoke artworks and videos that authentically reflected the identity of each group
-
Designing interactive illustrated artworks to engage viewers of all ages—including a ‘Find the Community Hearts’ feature and scannable QR codes linking to each group’s film
-
Collaborating with print specialists to select weather-resistant outdoor materials for long-term display durability
-
Managing the full installation of the public art and information boards at Banbury Station to ensure strong visual impact
-
Producing and publishing the 12 films on Banbury BID’s YouTube channel to increase digital reach and community engagement
The Outcome
-
12 custom-designed public artworks installed at Banbury Station, each accompanied by an information board that shares how the group serves and strengthens the Banbury community
-
12 short films capturing the heart and spirit of each organisation—celebrating the people behind the scenes through meaningful community storytelling
-
Artworks and videos actively used by the groups in non-profit fundraising, awareness campaigns, and volunteer outreach to expand their impact
-
A dynamic, community-led public art space that brings colour, connection, and culture to the daily journeys of commuters and visitors—turning Banbury Station into a hub for local pride and visibility
